Halloween 2024 - Costume Ideas

Halloween is just around the corner, and if you're anything like me, you've probably stopped prepping for it since your university days. To be honest, I didn't even dress up last year! Unless I know exactly what I'm going to be, I just can't muster the energy (no shade to the Halloween fanatics—I admire your dedication!).

But this year, I didn't want YOU to be in that position. With a stylist on your side, getting ready for Halloween should be much easier than in previous years. I’ve put together a few costume ideas that you can easily recreate with items you already have at home. Hopefully, these ideas will also spark some inspiration for costumes you may not have considered!

So, if you're feeling unprepared for the upcoming Halloween festivities, don't be scared—here are 6 costume ideas you can pull together in no time!

Cherry Coke

Hi, I’m Maddi, and I have a serious addiction to Diet Coke. And when I’m able to do a Target run in the States? It’s all about Cherry Diet Coke—it’s so good!

This year, I’ve been talking a lot about how popular burgundy is for fall. So, if you’ve snagged some burgundy pieces, here’s a fun costume idea for all my fellow Diet Coke addicts. And if you don’t own any burgundy yet, maybe now’s the perfect time to grab some pieces—you’ll definitely wear them again!

Tinkerbell

Blondies, this one’s for you! A few years ago, I dressed up as Tinkerbell, and it was the easiest hairstyle ever. Just throw your hair into a bun, add a white or green bow, and you're all set! You can also have fun with some fairy-inspired glam—get creative with your eyeshadow.

As for the fit, any green dress will do, but I just thought this Aritzia one was perfect. And, if heels aren’t your thing, you can easily swap them out for a cute pair of ballet flats or a silver sneaker.

Cowgirl

If you've recently picked up a denim vest or a pair of cowboy boots and haven’t quite figured out when to wear them, this is your sign: be a cowgirl for Halloween! It’s a super cute and effortless costume, and the best part is that these pieces are versatile and can easily be re-worn after Halloween. Pair them with a denim skirt (I know you have one lying around), add a bandana or cowboy hat, and you’re all set. It's a fun, stylish way to make the most out of your wardrobe staples while keeping things low-maintenance!

Corporate Barbie

This one’s for my corporate queens! Have you been eyeing a lighter suit or have one in your closet that needs some love? This costume is perfect for you! It’s one of my favorites, probably because I love channeling Corporate Barbie whenever I need to look professional. Even if you’ve already got a suit ready to go, don’t forget to add a pop of signature Barbie pink to complete the look.

Cheetah

Here’s another low-effort costume you can easily recreate with staples from your closet. Grab those leather pants you couldn’t stop wearing a few years ago, pair them with a cheetah print top (which is super trendy right now), throw on some animal ears, and you’re all set! If you’ve picked up cheetah or leopard print pants this season, you can switch this costume up by pairing them with a black tube top instead.

Madeline

This one’s for my cartoon lovers and anyone looking to embrace their inner child this Halloween. I might be a little biased (since the Madeline book is my namesake), but I think this look is so cute! If you picked up a pair of Mary Janes this fall, this costume is perfect! Plus, imagine re-wearing the dress later with tall boots—adorable!

I hope this helped you on your search for your Halloween costume, or even inspired a costume you hadn’t thought of yet! I hope you have a fun and safe Hallo-weekend!

Talk soon,

Mads
