From Cozy to Chic: Thanksgiving Outfits for Every Festive Vibe

I think it’s pretty clear by now that fall is my absolute favorite season, and Thanksgiving weekend plays a big part in that. There’s something about the chillier weather, the long weekend vibes, and, when I can, heading up to the cottage with my coziest sweaters that makes it so special. Plus, let’s be honest—Thanksgiving dinner is hands down the best meal of the year (at least in my opinion!)

But every year, the big question looms: What do I wear to Thanksgiving dinner? Whether you’re heading to a family feast, a cozy cottage getaway, or a Friendsgiving gathering, the outfit planning can feel like a challenge. That’s where I come in! From cozy and casual to chic and polished, I’ve got all the inspiration you need to nail your Thanksgiving look—no matter the occasion.

Coolest Cousin Energy

If you wear this outfit to a family gathering, you’ll definitely give off “Coolest Cousin Energy.” There’s always that one cool cousin in the family, and this year, it’s your time to claim the crown with this fit. I also love this look for a Friendsgiving or even for a night out! The off-the-shoulder top is super flattering and can be styled in so many ways for different occasions. And I have to mention the belt—it's from Aritzia. I picked it up last week and I’ve worn it every time I’ve left the house. It’s the perfect piece to instantly elevate any outfit!

Saddle Up

If you’ve never said “Saddle up” to your sibling before heading to a family dinner with Aunt Karen, then… I guess your family is normal? But in all seriousness, this equestrian-chic outfit is perfect for the occasion. It’s polished, put-together, and completely on-trend. Riding boots are making a major comeback this season, so whether you’re dusting off an old pair or you just picked up some new ones, this look is a great way to show them off. It’s the ideal mix of classic and stylish for any festive gathering.

90’s Ralph Lauren Realness

If you’re not sure what I mean by “90s Ralph Lauren,” just Google “90s Ralph Lauren Runway” and you’ll get the vibe. Or, think “Rachel Green.” This look is definitely a top contender for what I’m going to wear this weekend. I love the mix of brown tones paired with a pop of gold in the earrings. It’s giving Posh Spice meets Rachel Green—two of my style icons since I was five! Most of these pieces are from Mango, which is seriously killing it right now (and they’re having a sale this weekend!). But if you’re not in the mood to shop, you can easily recreate this look with any knit vest and pants in your closet. Just don’t forget to add a pump and your chicest gold earrings for that extra ounce of POSH!

Coastal Granddaughter

This outfit is the perfect mix of cozy, polished, and chic. If you’re heading to the cottage this weekend and aren’t sure how to dress for your family dinner, think “Coastal Granddaughter”—similar to the “Coastal Grandmother” vibe but with that cool cousin energy (because yes, we’re still going for that crown this year!). My favorite way to style this look is layering the knit on top of a button-up with the collar popped for a preppy vibe, or you can drape the knit over your shoulders for a cozier feel. Adding loafers and your favourite pair of glasses really ties it all together, giving off a super polished look.

Rory Gilmore Chic

The cable-knit sweater will always remind me of Season 1 Rory Gilmore from Gilmore Girls —probably the most fall-coded piece of television ever created. This outfit is perfect for those cozy dinners where you just want to sit back, sip a glass of Pinot Noir, and chat with the family. It’s low-effort, easy, but still cozy-chic. Pair it with Ugg slippers to really seal in that cozy vibe, but don’t forget it’s still Thanksgiving dinner! Add your favourite gold hoops for a touch of dressiness. Toss your hair up in a bun with a brown claw clip, and you’re ready for the coziest Thanksgiving yet!

Whether you’re keeping it cozy at home or dressing up for a festive gathering, there’s a Thanksgiving outfit here for every occasion. The key is to strike that perfect balance between comfort and style, so you can look good and feel good while spending time with loved ones. I hope these outfit ideas inspire you to step into the holiday with confidence, whether you’re channeling your inner “Cool Cousin” or embracing the ultimate cozy-chic vibe. Now, go enjoy that feast and make the most of your Thanksgiving—outfit and all!
